When Richard Neth of the Avon Fire Department stopped by D.P. Tool & Machine with a broken part from a nearly century-old fire truck, we were honored to help. The part in question—a key nut—was in two pieces. Our own Nick Lovullo skillfully crafted a replacement, playing a small but meaningful role in a much larger effort.
That fire truck, a 1926 Ahrens-Fox Combination Pumper, has deep roots in Avon. Originally purchased new by the Avon Fire Department, it served the community from 1926 to 1959 before eventually landing in a Canadian museum. Thanks to years of dedication and the formation of the Avon, NY Ahrens-Fox Full Circle Preservation Society, the historic truck was recently brought back home—just in time for the department’s 150th anniversary.
We’re proud to have partnered with our local heroes in preserving this remarkable piece of Avon’s firefighting legacy. It’s not every day you get to help restore history.
